SketchUp for Woodworkers – Is It Worth It?

LEARNING SKETCHUP – A Little Pain Goes a Long Way

As a brand new user, here is my two cents on SketchUp and what it can do for you when designing an involved woodworking project. This bar was a real bear to get build using my usual graph paper drawing method. After working with a SketchUp expert, I’m sold on learning the software this year. Love to hear how long it took you to get decent on SketchUp.

Thanks for that useful video. I have similar experiences.

SketchUp is definitely worth learning.

My problem is I have repeatedly spent multiple hours getting back up to
speed with sketchup basics for a one time use. Then I go months without
using it again. When I come back to use the tool again, I find I need to
go back and refresh my training. I’m going to have to get in the habit of
using Sketchup for every project so I use it regularly. Then I won’t have
to retrain.
